LifeChanger comes pre-installed with 3 different types of item that you can create: tasks, contacts, images. You could use one of those 3 types to represent most items you want to add to a list; but sometimes you’d find yourself having to shoe-horn information into the pre-defined fields. For example, if you were recording flight details, maybe you’d write the Flight number into the Details field and the Airport into the Location field, etc. But, wouldn’t it be better if you could create a new item type that has fields specifically called, Flight number, Source airport, Destination airport, etc.?
That’s where Custom Fields comes in handy. You can create a new item type for each of those items you frequently use so fields with meaningful names are available for you to use. You can base your new item type on one of the existing built-in types. For example, if you’re a medical device rep and work with doctors at several hospitals, you could create a new ‘Doctor’ type based on the built-in Contact and add a new selector to it called Hospital which lists all the hospitals where you work. When you create a new Doctor item, fill-in the details you’d enter for a regular contact (name, email, etc.) and choose the Hospital from your pre-defined list.

Creating a new Custom Type
When creating a new custom item type, you can either start from scratch or you can base it on an existing type.
To create from it scratch, tap the Add Custom Item Type button at the bottom of LifeChanger.
To base it on an existing type, tap the button with 3 vertical dots at the top right of the type and then Duplicate. A clone will be created next to the type you duplicated and you can then edit it to add/remove fields, change its name, color, etc.
